An Introduction to The Secret Garden Collection

I have been making wrap conversions for well over five years and I love my business; it's helped to keep me sane and focussed through the ups and down of life and has introduced me to some fascinating, passionate women dedicated to carrying their own children and to sharing information and practical advice about the unending benefits of babywearing.

I always wanted to move into the world of woven wrap manufacture but with three home educated children there was never the time or the space for me to dedicate creative energy to such an undertaking although I had started researching possibilities and planning what a woven wrap business might look like.  After some huge life changes my girls started school in September 2015 which is when I seriously took the bull by the horns and brought my dreams of designing and weaving wraps into fruition.  WOW what a journey!

The end result, (or the beginning depending on how you look at it) of that momentous learning curve is this little collection of wraps that I hope you'll love as much as I do.
They have been woven using the finest threads in a world renowned Lancashire mill which is dedicated to quality.  The mill has been around since the 1860s and has always belonged to the same family - generations of knowledge and understanding passed down through the family line.
The mill is a dusty, noisy mechanical place but from the steel, iron and noise come intricate, colourful, beautiful pieces of cloth.

So... the collection.

I've called it The Secret Garden Collection but it's not entirely about the book, it's about the beauty that is all around us; the stunning and intricate designs that come together in nature to form the ordinary things we see everyday.

When my girls were little and they didn't want to sleep I loved to wrap them and walk out of my back door into the garden.  It was never quiet...  bats flew overhead bringing the night in with them, next door's pond gurgled and splashed but as soon as I soothed and held my girls close to my heart the garden soothed and calmed me - even in the winter when it was freezing outside the garden was a great source of comfort.  The smell of the damp earth and the bright glow of the moon and stars, (the influence behind Cosmia...  flora and fauna and a bit of stardust!).  This is my secret garden; my escape and my centre.

Our garden attracts lots of butterflies during the day and they have been hugely influential in the design process.  Aglais and Clifden were developed from a macro image of a butterfly wing and the wraps have been named after the Clifden Blue butterfly which we see a lot in the North East due to the limestone and chalk quarries and the Aglais Io or Peacock butterfly that is quite common in the UK.

Aglais is comprised of a cream warp and a deep magenta and copper weft which gives the wrap a beautiful luxurious sheen and makes it look a rich red, (it doesn't look pink).  If you look really closely you can see the individual coloured threads.  They blend together beautifully.

The wrap has been woven to ensure it molds beautifully around you and your child making it easy to use and perfect for babies and children.

Clifden is a comprised of a cream warp and a peacock blue and smoke grey weft which gives the wrap a great depth of colour.

The wraps are made from beautiful cotton, (100%) and weigh in at approx 260gsm.

I am committed to ensuring plus size mamas are able to babywear comfortably and to have pretty tails when they wrap so if a size 8 isn't big enough please email me to discuss your requirements.
